Kentfield Outpatient Center offers comprehensive rehabilitation
services in a multidisciplinary team approach. Kentfield
individually tailors the programs to the needs of each patient
to ensure the best possible results. The Therapy sessions
incorporate education, home exercises, functional activities
and return-to-work training when appropriate. All specialty
services listed below require a physician’s referral.

Outpatient Pulmonary Program
Kentfield
Rehabilitation & Specialty Hospital’s OP Pulmonary
Program assists people recently diagnosed or those challenged
with managing chronic pulmonary disease. Our clinical staff
meets with patients twice a week throughout the 5 week program
in a small group setting. Instructors provide education to
help manage symptoms and offer guided exercise to maximize
optimal physical strength. Our team includes experienced Respiratory
Physical and Occupation Therapy Professionals. The goals of
the program are to assist patients in managing the disease
and to improve independence and confidence enabling patients
to participate in an active lifestyle.
Program Components
- Team evaluation and individualized treatment plan.
- Pharmaceutical assessment and management with primary physician.
- Progressive strengthening and reconditioning.
- Instruction in breathing techniques.
- Relaxation training to reduce anxiety associated with shortness
of breath.
- Nutritional information specific to those with Chronic
Pulmonary Disease.
- Tips on traveling with confidence.
- Individually designed home exercise programs.
Hand Center
Kentfield’s hand therapy program provides specialized
outpatient services for patients with hand and upper extremity
disorders. The certified hand therapists provide comprehensive
therapy services to those with:
- Repetitive strain
- Arthritis (including joint replacement)
- Hand and wrist fracture
- Traumatic and peripheral nerve injury
- Neurological and peripheral nerve injury
- Neurological dysfunction due to stroke or head injury
- Complex regional pain syndrome
- Thoracic outlet syndrome
- The treatment includes:
- Custom splinting
- Muscle reeducation
- Functional retraining
- Flexibility and strength training
- Myofascial and soft tissue release and self-release
Advanced Wound Care Center
The
goal of the Advanced Wound Program is to effectively treat
a chronic wound and the underlying medical condition so
the patient avoids inpatient hospitalization.

- Neuropathic ulcers secondary to diabetes

- Venous stasis ulcers
- Post-surgical wounds
- Vascular wounds
- Arterial insufficiency ulcers

- Comprehensive assessment and management
- Modalities (Ultra Sound, Electrical Stim) to facilitate
wound healing
- Specialized dressings based on latest research & technology
- Mechanical, chemical and sharp debridement
- Compression therapy
- Topical Hyperbaric Oxygen (THBO)- Portable
units for in-home use are available
- Negative Pressure Wound Therapy- machines which decreases
bacterial load as well as increases blood flow and rate
of granulation in a wound
- Allograft- sterile human cadaveric skin
Occupational Medicine
Kentfield’s Occupational Medicine Center, a full service
occupational health clinic, has been serving Marin County
employers and employees since 1993. Our physicians
and staff focus their efforts on a “Back to Work” effort
allowing the employee the opportunity to return to work quickly
and safely.
