Wound Care Programs
Kentfield's multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient wound
care programs are designed to help patients with difficult-to-heal,
long-term skin integrity conditions. We focus on intensive
intervention, education, prevention and maintenance.
Common Diagnosis
We treat individuals who have:
- pressure ulcers
- neurotropic ulcers secondary to diabetes
- arterial insufficiency ulcers
- venous stasis ulcers
Team Members
Our interdisciplinary team members include:
- physiatrist, vascular surgeon, plastic surgeon and other
medical specialists
- nurse practitioner specializing in wound care
- physical therapist/certified wound specialist
- multidisciplinary rehabilitation specialists
- certified orthotist/prosthetist specializing in foot deformities
- registered dietician
- clinical psychologist
Assessment
We use comprehensive assessments to focus on the following:
- circulation, sensation and etiology
- clinical tests including vascular Doppler testing
- measurement and staging of wounds with photographic documentation
Treatment
Our multidisciplinary team incorporates these treatment methods:
- specialized modalities to increase circulation, reduce
inflammation and decrease pain
- individualized wound dressings, including compression
dressings
- mechanical and chemical debridement
- nutritional and dietary intervention
- therapy to increase functional mobility and promote independence
in self-care
- hydrotherapy
- psychological intervention
- patient and caregiver education for prevention of recurrence
Admission Criteria
individuals who meet the following criteria may be considered
for inpatient admission:
- acute need with history of chronic, difficult-to-heal
wounds
- serious health risk requiring daily physician monitoring
