Ventilator Weaning Program
Kentfield's goal is wean patients from ventilators so they regain their ability to breathe and function independently. When this is not possible, we train patients and their families to use portable equipment, enabling them to return home.

Treatment
Our approach includes:

  • comprehensive medical supervision by a pulmonologist and physiatrist
  • 24-hour respiratory therapy
  • progressive weaning with strengthening of respiratory muscles
  • reconditioning exercises
  • instruction in correct breathing techniques
  • relaxation training to reduce anxiety
  • pharmacological management
  • evaluation and training for swallowing problems
  • psychosocial support to the patient and family

Local and national resources are also available.
