Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Kentfield provides an inpatient pulmonary rehabilitation program for patients with primary or secondary pulmonary diagnoses. Our comprehensive program increases pulmonary function through specialized treatment and education to assist patients in returning to productive, independent lifestyles.

Treatment
Our interdisciplinary team designs a treatment plan tailored for each patient using the following:

  • integrated physical, occupational and speech therapy
  • pharmaceutical assessment and management
  • 24-hour respiratory therapy
  • progressive strengthening and reconditioning
  • instruction in correct breathing techniques
  • patient and family support, counseling and education

Common Diagnoses
We treat patients with:

  • acute chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • bronchitis, emphysema, asthma and pneumonia
  • neuromuscular respiratory paralysis
  • restrictive lung disease
    • scoliosis
    • muscular dystrophy
    • multiple sclerosis
    • orthopedic trauma
    • pulmonary fibrosis
  • neurological disorders
  • spinal cord injury
  • head injury
  • cerebral vascular accident (CVA, stroke)
  • pulmonary vascular disease
  • sleep apnea

Additional Criteria
Patients who meet the following criteria may also be considered for admission:

  • forced expiratory volume (FEV1) is 50 percent or less of predicted
  • forced vital capacity (FVC1) is 55 percent or less of predicted
  • patient has significant intolerance to activity
  • patient is motivated to modify behavior to improve health

We offer an outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation program as well.
